Help us build something extraordinary
At Hygge, we believe every child deserves the chance to grow up in a safe, loving home where they feel they belong.
We're a small, ambitious organisation providing therapeutic children's homes for children and young people who have experienced trauma. We're growing quickly and are looking for someone who wants to be part of that journey.
This isn't just an admin role. Every invoice processed, every new colleague welcomed, every system kept running smoothly and every detail checked means our teams can spend more time doing what matters most – providing outstanding care for children.
We also know that many talented people reach a stage in their career where they're looking for something different. Less about climbing the next rung of the career ladder and more about using their experience to support a cause they believe in.
If you're looking for a role where you'll be trusted, valued and able to make a genuine contribution, we'd love to hear from you.
About Us:
In our Hygge community, you will meet others from a wide range of backgrounds and professions. Yet, what binds us together is our unwavering dedication and commitment to our shared values.
Together, we celebrate small victories, share moments of laughter, offer support in times of need and pause for a cup of tea (and a homemade brownie) to catch a breath.
As we continue to grow our team, we are dedicated to creating a supportive environment where everyone feels heard, valued and encouraged to reach their full potential.
We are committed to creating a diverse and inclusive team. We believe that the power to make a difference lies within each individual, regardless of their background, age or previous experiences.
The Role:
You'll become one of the people who quietly keeps Hygge running. Working closely with our Chief Financial Officer and Head of People, you'll provide support across finance, HR, IT and day-to-day operations. You'll enjoy variety, solve problems before they become issues and help create the systems and processes that enable our homes to thrive.
As a growing organisation, no two days are the same. You'll be someone who enjoys rolling up your sleeves, spotting opportunities to improve how we work and taking pride in getting the details right.
Typical responsibilities include:
Finance
Bookkeeping and day-to-day finance administration
Processing invoices and maintaining accurate financial records
Supporting the CFO with financial administration and reporting
Assisting with supplier queries and maintaining financial documentation
People
Supporting recruitment and onboarding, ensuring every new colleague receives a warm Hygge welcome
Supporting rota administration and workforce planning
Ensuring accurate monthly submission of casual worker hours in line with payroll deadlines
Helping maintain compliance with safer recruitment and employment requirements
Operations
Acting as the first point of contact for routine IT issues and liaising with our external IT provider
Maintaining accurate organisational records, databases and compliance documentation
Supporting the leadership team with general administration and project work
Helping improve systems, processes and ways of working as Hygge continues to grow
Providing practical support wherever it's needed
What We Offer:
A competitive salary of £28-33,000 per annum (pro rata), based on experience and qualifications.
Annual Leave Entitlement of 33 days (pro rata), inclusive of bank holidays
Generous workplace ethical pension
Access to the Blue Light Card providing discounts to hundreds of retailers and venues
Access to our Pirkx Benefits Package, offering a wide range of perks and services including online GP and physio consultations, 24/7 counselling, employee assistance programs, health and eye care benefits, as well as discounts on retail, leisure and entertainment activities
Access to a coach and regular personal and group supervision sessions, providing guidance, support and mentorship as you navigate your career journey with us
Access to a variety of professional development opportunities tailored to enhance your skills and expertise, empowering you to excel in your role and beyond
Following one year of good performance we will work with you to develop a personalised reward and recognition plan; we want to make sure that we are rewarding you in a way that works best for you
You will also enjoy access to home-cooked meals, unlimited tea, fresh fruits and biscuits. Plus, we all like baking!
About you
We're looking for someone who enjoys bringing order to busy environments and takes genuine pride in producing high-quality work.
You'll probably be someone who:
Has exceptional attention to detail
Enjoys organising people, systems and information
Is warm, approachable and enjoys helping others
Cares about children and wants their work to have a positive social impact
Enjoys working in a small, collaborative team where everyone contributes
Is confident using Ms Office and is comfortable learning new systems (experience of Xero would be an advantage)
Can manage multiple priorities while remaining calm and organised
Is proactive, practical and happy to get involved wherever needed
Enjoys improving processes rather than simply following them
Can work independently while knowing when to ask for support
You may have spent many years working in administration, finance, HR, office management or business support. Perhaps you're looking to step away from full-time work but still enjoy being busy, solving problems and helping others succeed. Equally, you may simply be someone who enjoys bringing order to growing organisations and takes pride in doing the little things exceptionally well.
Experience matters, but so does curiosity, kindness and a willingness to learn.
Other Requirements:
Enhanced DBS clearance.
Full driving licence.
To ensure the health and safety of the children under our care, candidates who are non-smokers are preferred.
